Welcome to Ollerenshaw
Ollerenshaw is a boarding house for boys studying at St Leonards school in St Andrews, Fife, many of whom study the International Baccalaureate. The school is truly international, and in Ollerenshaw we have many nationalities including Scottish, English, German, Russian, Romanian, Italian, Nigerian, Belgian, Chinese, Hong Kongese, Taiwanese, Spanish and French students. This makes for a cosmopolitan and international flavour which is exciting and refreshing.
Boys in Ollerenshaw are confident and contibuting young men. We want our young men to feel at home in the boarding house; to be safe, comfortable and happy. They support one another and forge good friendships. I believe that this is the foundation of a good boarding house.
The young men who live and work together in this beautiful house, surrounded by beautiful scenery (we are right across the road from the beautiful Cathedral Ruins of St Andrews), enjoy the benefits of living on site, being able to pop back to the house to study in their study periods and going next door for meals in our award-winning Central Dining Room. One new young man in the L6th said to me the other day 'it's like living with lots of brothers!' International boarders have close relationships with day boys who also use the house, too, and they are often invited to stay with Scottish families and friends.
I am very lucky to be supported by two Resident House Assistants, Miss Matts and Miss Cuthbert, and of course by my wife Mrs Taylor. And let's not forget our dog, Alfie.
Ollerenshaw's current Heads of House are Alaiksei Baskin (Belarus) and Tomo Loeer (Japan / Germany). Our Deputy Heads of House are Max Weigl (Germany) and Ross Proudfoot (Scotland).
Please enjoy our blog and pictures. If you would like to ask anything about Ollerenshaw, email us at ollerenshaw@stleonards-fife.org. St Leonards' main website can be found at http://www.stleonards-fife.org.
